Applying Makeup on a Sex Doll
It always amazes me how makeup can transform a woman (or doll!) from innocent, pure looking into a straight up seductress! The power of makeup is real, so let’s go over how to apply makeup to your doll!
First off, it’s best to stick to powder products. Liquid makeup is pigment rich, which can lead to staining, and it doesn’t stick the same way it would to actual skin. This allows you to change up their look regularly to match your mood or the outfit you chose for your partner.
Start with the eyes
You can apply eyeshadow, if you’d like, but eyeliner is what will really make the eyes pop. It’s best to use a brown along the top – between the eyeball and eyelashes is where you’ll want to apply this, which is also known as tightlining.
Define the eye corner by using a dark brown or black eyeshadow to the corners of the eyes. Brown will look more natural, while black provides more contrast; black being the most standard. You can pull up different eyeliner styles (cat eye, fox eye, puppy eye, etc.) to get a feel for the shape you prefer. Just keep in mind that not all eye shapes work for all eyeliner styles, so photographs can help guide you, but sometimes testing it out for yourself is the best way to go.
Apply the false eyelashes! This step is a bit more in-depth, so we’ll touch on this more later.
Shape the Eyebrows
You may not realize it, but eyebrows provide a foundational structure to faces. The same person can look completely different simply by changing up the eyebrow shapes and styles.
You’ll want to use eyeshadow similar to the wig you’ve chosen, but if in doubt, a dark brown is quite universal and will provide enough contrast to see them – where blonde eyebrows can blend in and unless you’re going for an alien-like look, it’s not really recommended.
For the shape, refer to women’s eyebrows. There are also some eyebrow stencils available online that you can use to get the correct shape and ensure they’re symmetrical.
Adding Blush
Blush can be used in a few ways – on the lips and face. For the lips, you’ll want to use a small makeup brush and start in the center of the lips and fade the color out. Keep gradually adding more until you’ve reached the color and look you want. Some prefer a sharp lip line, where the lips are one solid color. However, I find a gradient lip where it’s most saturated in the center and fades out into a softer lip line is typically more flattering and a bit easier to accomplish.
Once the lips are done, you then want to switch to either a powder puff or a larger makeup brush to add blush to the cheeks. Blush placement can really change the final look. While blush along the apples of the cheek and lightly across the bridge of the nose will give a youthful, girly look, angling the blush from the apple of the cheek under the center of the eye up to the temple will create a more structured, defined look. Blush draping around the face can emphasize the eyes more, while appearing more natural.
If you’d like to add a bit more dimension to the face, you can add contour and/or bronzer. These aren’t necessary, but bronzer is a great trick if you’re wanting a summer-like glow. I’ll add this step in if I’m going for a bikini or summer look, but it’s totally optional.
For a bit of sparkle, you can use a powder highlighter. The best places to apply this are the inner corners of the eyes to bring more light into them, on top of the cheekbones, and just a touch over the cupid’s bow on the lips. You can also put a bit on the eyelids if you’d like. For highlighter, you can either use a clean finger or a small, detailed makeup brush.
Now that we’ve covered the steps to apply makeup, let’s go back to applying false eyelashes. These undoubtedly add to the realism of your doll, and they’re an essential part of completing the look. Most dolls will come with eyelashes, but these are prone to breaking and falling off, os it’s important to know how to apply new ones.
What you’ll need: False eyelashes, eyelash glue, mascara, tweezers, scissors
1. First, you’ll want to choose the style of lashes. Most drugstores carry these, and they range from big, dramatic lashes to more natural, demure ones – it’s simply a matter of personal preference.
2. You’ll need to fit the lash to the doll’s eye. Most lashes are made too long for a standard eye, simply to ensure they can fit as many people as possible. Line up the eyelash to the dolls eye starting from the inner corner. If there’s any hanging over the end of the outer corner, you can snip this bit off – you don’t want a tail hanging off her eye.
3. Once the lashes are trimmed to the correct size, you’ll want to take and bend/wiggle the band. Essentially, this loosens up the band to allow it to better conform to the doll, since most eyes aren’t shaped exactly like the eyelash holder is.
4. Now, you’ll want to add a line of eyelash glue across the band of the lashes. Allow 30-60 seconds for the glue to become tacky. If you try to put the lash on while the glue is still liquid, the lashes will slide around and you’ll have a mess of glue to clean up.
5. Once the glue is tacky, but not dried, use your tweezers (or you can use an eyelash applicator) to gently set the lashes on her eye. I find it’s easiest to anchor the center, then move to set the ends down; others find it easier to start in the inner corner and work outwards. Once they’re in place, leave them be for another minute or two while the glue dries down.
6. Now that the lashes are adhered, you can move onto detail work. If anything looks wonky or messy, you can either trim them up a bit with the scissors or tidy it up with a touch of mascara.
Cool! Now you know how to apply the makeup. But what about taking it off? Keep reading for more information.
You may not be happy with the doll’s initial makeup, or you may simply want to change up her look! Thankfully, it’s super easy to remove the cosmetics to switch things up as you feel fit.
You’ll need: TPE doll-specific cleaning solution, cotton balls/pads, cotton swabs, tweezers
1. Pour the cleaning solution onto a cotton pad, and start with removing the lipstick (actually blush – don’t use real lipstick!). Most dolls will come with a cleaning kit, but if you’re not sure what cleanser to use, reach out to the company directly for more info.
2. Next, move onto the eyebrows. You’ll want to change the cotton pad often to make sure you’re not transferring any pigment around the face, creating a larger mess. Continue on until the face is fully cleansed of any makeup.
3. Lastly, use the tweezers to gently remove the eyelashes. Then, take a cotton swab dipped in cleanser to remove any residual glue.
